Have you ever heard the saying that “you don’t know you NEED something, till you have it”? Well this Mr Visibility LED reflective belt is something I initially thought Bob wanted on a whim, but after seeing it in action I have to say that man knows his stuff! I got the opportunity to receive this product in exchange for a review and I just thought that while it was an interesting concept I didn’t really see it as something we’d use, Bob however wanted to try it, so I indulged him. We did a video review which you can view below, or on my YouTube channel.
So straight out the box you get the belt and the charging cable. Yep this sucker LIGHTS UP! Bigtime! The charging cable is one like the kindle cable so that’s a bonus that you only need one small adapter cable not it’s own special cable. I really appreciate the fact that it comes WITH the cable too.
The belt is reflective elastic on one side and the LED strip on the other. One end of the LED strip has the power button and the charging portal. The portal has a little cover which can easily be lifted up to plug in the cable.
The LED strip itself has two light settings. First switch is flashing, second is on all the time. I liked this feature as the flashing was more noticeable as a “hey there is something there! It’s flashing.” I think people are more aware of things moving rather than being constantly on. The ability to easily switch between these modes was great.
I turned the lights out and as you can see it’s BRIGHT. The belt itself is more yellow than green, but when switched on it’s definitely a green light you see coming out the back. It was very bright though, and you would notice it for sure! The belt also comes in Red and Blue.
Bob wore it to take Pixel for a walk and you can definitely see it’s extremely noticeable. Drivers would see you clearly wearing this! This is down Sequoia Ave which is a pretty dark street at night and the belt lit up beautifully! This is where I began to see why Bob wanted it. This is going to be great for running at night (or early morning). It’s also going to be useful for cycling. Small enough to pack in the camelbak incase we are out later than planned. If you do any fitness activity or walking of dogs at night this would be useful in keeping you safe and seen by drivers.
As mentioned the front is a reflective strip and with a little light from a flashlight or headlights the band lights up to let drivers know where you are. This is a great feature giving you safety protection from both front and back.
Whilst walking home Bob and I were discussing the uses for this belt and honestly I’d LOVE to see some pet safety gear. A collar, or harness would be great. Then Pixel would be safe too! On the Mr Visibility website you can see that they also do ankle bands.
